I'm proposing that posts that get reported are automatically locked so they cannot be edited until after the report has been looked at and closed (or deleted). Currently, when a post is reported by a user it stays open and editable which means that if a report isn't seen quick enough the offending user could edit their post tactically to try and hide the fact they possible broke forum rules.
I'm simply suggesting that under the Posting settings in the ACP located here (
This is what the setting could look like: You could achieve this with an extension, but the lock post feature isn't really used very much in core as it stands. It's a manual feature that you have to do for every individual post. It's not tied to any automatic moderation.
Places like StackOverflow or Reddit have similar auto moderation tools that work like this and work well.
